  • podofylline

Waarschuwing:

  • Alleen de vruchten van schildvoetblad, die een citroenachtige smaak hebben, zijn eetbaar.
  • De overige delen van de plant zijn heel giftig en zelfs het aanraken van de plant is niet zonder gevaar: contact met Podophyllum kan leiden tot huidverzweringen, aangezien de werkzame bestanddelen makkelijk via de huid worden opgenomen.
  • De antikankermedicijnen die uit schildvoetblad (rhizoom en hars) worden bereid - etoposide en teniposide - hebben, zoals het geval is met veel andere behandelingen van kanker, aanzienlijke bijwerkingen.
